Where AppSell offers appear on a Shopify store
The moments AppSell can place an offer on Shopify, and which funnel type suits each one
The four moments
AppSell can place an offer at four points in a Shopify order. Each one catches a shopper in a different frame of mind, so the same product can perform very differently depending on where you show it.
Product page — before anything is in the cart. Best for bundles and frequently-bought-together sets, where you are shaping the order rather than adding to it.
Cart — the shopper has decided to buy and is reviewing. Best for a small, obviously complementary add-on.
Checkout — the last moment before payment. Best for an upgrade to what they already chose.
Post-purchase and thank-you page — after the order is placed. A one-click add that does not require re-entering payment details, so it carries the least friction of the four.
Which funnel type to use
AppSell has three funnel types, and all of them work at any of the placements above:
Product Upsell & Cross-sell — a related product, or an upgrade on the one being bought.
Volume Bundle Discount — buy more of the same item for a lower unit price.
Frequently Bought Together — the Amazon-style set, added in one click.
The setup is nearly identical across the three, so once you have built one the others are quick. Create your first funnel walks through it.
Start with one
Running an offer at every moment at once makes it hard to tell what is working, and it can read as pushy to shoppers. Publish one funnel, leave it long enough to gather real impressions, and read the result before adding a second — Understanding your funnel performance explains the metrics.
